Quon GK engine

Engine

At the heart of the GW 26 470 is the efficient, ultra high-pressure unit injection 13 litre diesel engine. It comes with multi-valve overhead cam, turbocharger and intercooler. The flagship GW 26 470 produces 340 kW with 2255 Nm of torque.

Automated Manual Transmission (AMT)

You can choose between the option of the Eaton AutoShift Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) or Eaton 18 speed manual in GW 26 470 models. The AMT is calibrated by UD´s Australian engineers and recognised as easily the best and smoothest installation in the country. With 18 forward gears and 4 reverse gears, the Eaton Cobra shift and dash mounted gear display, you will make your life easier with an Eaton Automated UD truck.

FUPS & Cab Strength

UD was the first Japanese manufacturer in the Australian marketplace to offer an ECE-R93 compliant Front Underrun Protection System (FUPS) that is stand alone and does not require the installation of a bull bar.

FUPS is designed to ensure the safety features fitted to passenger cars, such as airbags and crumple zones, are deployed during a collision with a heavy vehicle. While providing a boost for the truck's safety, the FUPS increases the GVM of the truck by an extra 500 kg and can allow operators to haul 26 metre B-doubles, benefiting efficiency and productivity. All Quon cabs meet the stringent ECE-R29 test requirements for cabin strength.

AdBlueSCR

AdBlue®& SCR working together

UD´s heavy duty range is amongst the cleanest on the market, clearing the 2015 long-term emission regulations as well as fuel consumption standards for heavy duty trucks.

Every truck is fitted with a urea SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system, which combines a SCR catalyst for purifying the exhaust gas an UDPC (UD Particulate Cleaning) system for vast reduction in NOx emissions.

This enhances the combustion process as each cylinder is designed for maximum combustion efficiency. This reduces Particulate Matter (PM), also known as "soot", to almost zero. By injecting AdBlue® into the exhaust stream via a muffler/catalyst, NOx is chemically decomposed into Nitrogen (N2) and Water (H2O).

UD Trucks has chosen SCR over EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation), as it:

  1. lowers CO(greenhouse gas) emissions;
  2. improves fuel economy;
  3. reduces engine operating temperature;
  4. increases engine life;
  5. extends engine oil drain intervals; and
  6. requires no specialised engine oil.
